Let's Go Back to the Bible

Praying from A to Z

So often in his letters to his brethren, Paul would tell them that he was “praying always for you” (Col. 1:3), and “We give thanks to God always for you all, making mention of you in our prayers” (1 Thess. 1:2). He told Timothy, “without ceasing I remember you in my prayers night and day” (2 Tim. 1:3). He said something similar in nearly every letter.

Sometimes when someone asks us to pray for them, we might respond, “Well, that’s the least I can do.” But, in actuality, when you’re speaking to the Creator and Sustainer of all things about someone, there is nothing better that you can do! That’s not “the least”!

While having your own prayer list is a very good practice, may I encourage you to have another list? What if you prayed through your church directory every week or every month? Take a few names or a few pages each day to your Father. It wouldn’t take long. What could be better? Maybe do the same thing with the contacts in your phone. Pray each day from A to Z.
