Let's Go Back to the Bible

Turned upside down

The early church, and likely the efforts of the apostle Paul in particular, had developed quite a reputation. It does not appear that Paul and Silas were on the continent of Europe very long before the Jews in Thessalonica made this sweeping claim, “These who have turned the world upside down have come here too” (Acts 17:6). I don’t believe this was an exaggeration. The news of the spreading and impact of the gospel was widespread.

Christians are often urged today to take the gospel to the lost world and “turn the world upside down.”  Often, that task seems insurmountable and thus we may not even attempt it. But, consider it on a smaller scale. Can the gospel turn our neighborhood upside down? Our street? Our workplace? Our home? Our family members? Our friends? Ourselves?

If we will devote ourselves wholly to the teaching and living of the gospel, the Lord can use us to turn the world upside down…one soul at a time!
