Let's Go Back to the Bible

That’s unacceptable

The bank teller said, “We do not accept printed checks with manual corrections.”  What?  How is that such a big deal?  I had gone to the bank to deposit a check, which had been printed from a computer program, but with the wrong date.  Before I received the check, a manual (almost imperceptible) correction had been made on the date to make it current.  It was so unnoticeable, I had not even seen it, but the teller sure did.  And, she wouldn’t accept it.

Wouldn’t it be great if mankind followed the same policy toward man-made changes to Scripture that the bank has toward man-made changes on checks?  From the days in the Garden, Satan has sought to pervert the Word of God, even in some ways that may be imperceptible at first.  But even a small change (like fixing a date on a check or just inserting one word, like “not,” into the commands of God) is unacceptable!  God plainly instructed not to add to or take from His Word (Rev. 22:18-19).  If it’s unacceptable to God, it must be unacceptable to us!
