Let's Go Back to the Bible

“I am so much better than you!”

Do you know how easy it is develop within our hearts and be fully convinced, “I am better than others”? “I’m more educated than you, so I’m better.” “I have more money than you, so I’m better.” “I’m older than you, so I’m better.” “I’m younger than you, so I’m better.” “I have more experience than you, so I’m better.” “I’m more successful than you, so I’m better.” “I’m better-looking than you, so I’m better.” “I’m your supervisor, so I’m better.” “I’m a guy, so I’m better.”

Obviously, the list of examples could go on and on. The point is that it is so easy, whatever our station in life, to be persuaded that we are superior to others in some way. The reality is that there is One person who IS better than all of us–Jesus Christ, the Son of God! And, the truly amazing thing is that when He came to this earth, He did NOT take on or demonstrate an attitude of being “better.” The Son of God emptied Himself and humbled Himself (Phil. 2:5-8).

I am not better than Jesus, therefore, I am not better than anyone else. Do I believe that?
