Let's Go Back to the Bible

More than just some recitation

“Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.” This is the common greeting that appears (in some form) at the beginning of every epistle of the apostle Paul. So, is it just a greeting? Is it just a–“Hi, how are you? Glad to see you!”–greeting, to get the “formalities” out of the way? Certainly not!

Think about Paul’s life before his conversion. In fact, he often thought at his pre-conversion life. He wrote to Timothy: “…although I was formerly a blasphemer, a persecutor, and an insolent man; but I obtained mercy because I did it ignorantly in unbelief. And the grace of our Lord was exceedingly abundant, with faith and love which are in Christ Jesus. This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief” (1 Tim. 1:13-15). Having grace and having peace were on Paul’s mind every day!

What about you? How real and how thankful are you (daily) for God’s grace and peace?
