Let's Go Back to the Bible

I’m not perfect, but I am perfect!

I make mistakes. I mess up. I sin and fall short of the glory of God. I make choices that disappoint God and separate me from Him. I’m not perfect! I’m about as far from perfect as it is possible to be!

But, I am perfect! “What!? You just said that you are not perfect! How can you then say that you are perfect!?” I know the One who is perfect! The blood of animals under the old covenant could “never…make those who approach perfect” (Heb. 10:1), but the blood of Jesus can (10:14)! This “perfection” has nothing to do with my own goodness, but it has everything to do with the perfect Son of God giving Himself for me, so that I might be made “perfect in Christ Jesus” (Col. 1:28). “In Christ” is the only place to find perfection! His blood makes me perfect!

If it were not for Jesus I could not be “perfect” like my Father (Matt. 5:48) and I could not go to that perfect place of heaven (Rev. 21-22)! I’m not perfect, but because of Jesus, I am!
