Let's Go Back to the Bible

God is so good to me!

The special providence of God is one of the richest blessings that children of God enjoy. In the Old Testament, Joseph was thrown into a pit, sold into slavery and ended up in an Egyptian prison. Many would ask, “Where’s God? Why has God allowed all of this to happen?”

About 40 years after his brothers started him down this path of misfortune, Joseph looked back and saw the Lord at work for the “good” of His people. He told his brothers, “But as for you, you meant evil against me; but God meant it for good” (Gen. 50:20). Do you trust God to know what is “good” for you? Do you believe He knows what is “good” for you even better than you do?

The Bible says that we can “know” today that our gracious Father still “works” for the “good” of His children in “all things” (Rom. 8:28). Let us determine today that we are going to trust God more than we ever have before, and that we are going to trust that His definition of “good” is better than ours (cf. 1 Sam. 3:18)! God’s special providence–what a rich blessing!
