Let's Go Back to the Bible

Drowning out the cries

Near Auschwitz during World War II, railroad trains carrying Jews to their execution would pass through the towns, and the screams from the packed cattle cars pierced through the hearts of the residents in every place. When these trains came through town while churches were assembled, it is reported that the parishioners would sing louder and louder to drown out the bloodcurdling screams of the soon-to-be-executed.

Is it possible that churches and Christians are still doing that today? Every day there are train-loads of people (at least in number) who are dying without Jesus. Every day there are train-loads of people who are ruining their lives because they don’t have Jesus. Every day there are train-loads of eternal souls passing by you, screaming out for help, rushing headlong to their final doom. Do we hear? Do we care? Or do we try to distract our minds in another direction?

“Shall we sit idly as they rush onward? Haste let us hold up Christ the true light!”
