Let's Go Back to the Bible

Blessed beyond measure

With nearly every earthly blessing, there is the ability to measure it. If you get a raise or a bonus at work, the amount can be measured. If the local produce market “throws in” a few extra pounds of fruit, the weight can be measured. If a neighbor brings over a chocolate cake, even the calories  can be measured. Every earthly blessing has the ability to be measured.

Amazingly, spiritual blessings don’t work that way (at least most of them do not). They cannot be measured. When God promised that He’d “open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you such a blessing that there will not be room enough to receive it” (Mal. 3:10), that is a blessing beyond measure. When God promised that He’d give to you “good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over…” (Luke 6:38), that is a blessing beyond measure.

Life’s greatest blessings cannot be measured, because life’s greatest blessings are spiritual in nature and come from the infinite (i.e., immeasurable) God! How blessed are you?
