Let's Go Back to the Bible

Who’s on first?

As a kid, I loved watching (or listening to) Abbott and Costello – their movies, TV show or just catching one of their bits. Of course, they were most famous for their signature routine, “Who’s on First?” There’s no telling how many times I’ve heard that bit, but definitely enough to quote it line-for-line right along with them. Is there anything like that in your life – maybe a movie that you’ve seen dozens of times and can quote every line? It’s pretty amazing how the mind works!

Now, the harder question: Are there parts of the Bible that you can quote line-for-line when the preacher or Bible class teacher or audio app starts reading? How much of the Bible have we truly written on our hearts (Psa. 119:11; Jer. 31:33)? It can happen…in the very same way that you can quote movie lines or sing along with your favorite musical artist.

I guess Abbott and Costello had the question right all along – “Who’s on first?” When the Lord and His Word are “on first,” His “line upon line” (Isa. 28:10) will be in your heart, roll off your lips and direct your days.
