Let's Go Back to the Bible

When was the last time you read the book of John?

Sometimes people will ask me, “I really feel like I’ve been struggling with my faith lately and I’m not as close to God as I used to be.  I want to start reading some parts of the Bible that will help me strengthen my faith.  What do you recommend?”  That’s when I sometimes ask, “When was the last time you read the book of John?”

John affirmed, “And truly Jesus did many other signs in the presence of His disciples, which are not written in this book; but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name” (20:30-31).  Read about His incarnation; His “I Am” statements; His actions, words and prayer in the upper room; His conversations with people like Nicodemus and the Samaritan woman; His miracles that are recorded only in John, like turning water to wine and raising Lazarus from the dead.

Take your time.  Read through the book.  Then, see if your faith is not stronger.
