It is certainly easier to sit back and watch (and wait), rather than jump up, jump in and take the initiative to act. But, what is the proper behavior of one who belongs to Christ?
Do you sit back at work and just wait to be asked to do something? What about at home? Do you just wait to be asked to help out before you get up and help? What do you do for the Lord’s church? Do you just wait for someone to ask you to do something, and if no one asks you, then you do earthly things to fill your time? What about in your daily Christian life? Do you ever step up, step in and take the initiative to act for the Lord?
The easiest path is not always the right path (Matt. 7:13-14), in any situation or relationship or responsibility. Go back to the first question; “What is the proper behavior of one who belongs to Christ?” One answer: Look at Christ and follow His example (1 Pet. 2:21)! Jesus took the initiative! He loved, He served, He even died, all without being asked to do so! Be like Jesus—don’t wait to be asked!
