Let's Go Back to the Bible

Think about the prefix “pre”

It depends on who you consult and how the number is determined, but there are literally hundreds (if not a few thousand) religious denominations in America. A denomination is a “group, branch or division of any religion.” Denominations are so prevalent that one is hardly considered “just a Christian” today, but the question is often asked, “What kind of Christian?”

The pervasiveness of denominationalism has led some individuals (and groups) to try to distance themselves from association with a denomination. You’ve probably seen or heard of religious bodies calling themselves “non-denominational” or “inter-denominational,” and some have even ventured into the idea of being “anti-denominational.”

Rather than attach yourself to one of these identifications above, think about being “pre-denominational.” When Jesus purchased the church with His own blood, how many denominations were there? Zero! It was “pre-denominational”! Shouldn’t we all want to be part of the church that He established at a time before man ever tried to established his own?
