According to a quick web search, the world’s most powerful magnet is located in Tallahassee, Florida, at Florida State University’s National High Magnetic Field Laboratory. This superconducting magnet has a strength of 45 tesla, which, according to the experts, is over 400,000 times stronger than the Earth’s magnetic field. For comparison, an MRI machine typically operates at 1-3 tesla. But, as powerful as the pull of this magnetic field is, it has zero effect right now on any metal or electronics that I own, as I am not close to it at all. But, I would imagine, as with any magnet, the closer you get to it, the stronger the pull.
That reminds me of how our relationship with God works and how heaven works. When I’m not close to God, then there’s not much of a pull there. But, the closer I get to Him, the greater the draw is to be with Him more now, and the pull of eternity in heaven with Him is almost uncontainable. How close are you to God? How strong is the pull of heaven and your “desire” to go there (Phil. 1:23)?
