Let's Go Back to the Bible

New every morning

The sun rises every morning, as if it had never gone anywhere. It appears to give you a whole new supply of minutes, ready at your disposal in the new day. But there is another supply of “new” for you “every morning.” Perhaps you know the words of the song, which is based upon Lamentations 3:22-23, “The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; His mercies never come to an end. They are new every morning. Great is Thy faithfulness.”

God’s supply of love (or lovingkindnesses, NASB) for you never runs out! God’s supply of mercies (or compassions, NKJV/NASB) for you never run out! By the way, note that both of these are plural. It is not just God’s love (singular) or mercy (singular) that is new every morning, but His lovingkindnessES and merciES. No wonder Jeremiah said, “‘The Lord is my portion,’ says my soul, ‘Therefore I hope in Him’” (3:24).

Every morning, God is ready to bless you and bless you and bless you! How firm is your hope in Him?
