In a day of disposable marriages and empty vows, how are there couples who have been married for 20, 30, 40, 50, 60 years? Our godless society and liberal media might be able to come up with some snarky answer to that question, but they would never unearth the truth (if they tried) that holds these marriages 
together amidst a dearth of true commitment today.
But, those who are Christians know the answer. We know that the answer (not only to that question but the secret to all marital success) is found in the Bible. How can one man stay married to one woman for decades and decades and decades? The answer: He loves her more than he loves himself! Now, why would he do that? What kind of dummy takes that approach?
The Bible says, “In lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself” (Phil. 2:3). The Bible says, “Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her” (Eph. 5:25). The Bible says, “Love…does not seek its own” (1 Cor. 13:4-5). Jesus loved the church more than Himself! A husband ought to love his wife more than himself!
