Let's Go Back to the Bible

“Let the words of my mouth…”

God used the word “Selah” over 70 times in the book of Psalms.  The exact meaning is a topic of discussion, but it seems to indicate a place for a pause, perhaps (as some have suggested) for the reader (and singer) to meditate on what was just said.  “Selah” is not found in Psalm 19:14, but with the idea of a pause for meditation, read the following slowly and meditatively:

“Let the words of my mouth…Selah

and the meditation of my heart…Selah

Be acceptable…Selah

in Your sight, O Lord…Selah

my strength…Selah

and my Redeemer.”…Selah

If you (like so many) have trouble controlling the words that spring from your tongue, memorize, then meditate, then manage with these words.  Right them on your heart (Psa. 119:11).
