Every Christian possesses and is sustained by hope. There is the “hope” of the resurrection from the dead (Acts 23:6; 1 Cor. 15). There is the “hope” of heaven (Col. 1:5; Heb. 6:19). There is the “hope” of eternal life (Tit. 1:2). There is the “hope” of brethren in the presence of Christ (1 Thess. 2:19). There is the “hope” of seeing Christ’s return (Tit. 2:13).
Of this last entry, there is to be much anticipation among God’s children. We are to “eagerly wait for the Savior” to return (Phil. 3:20). We are not only looking for that day but also “hastening the coming of the day of God” (2 Pet. 3:12). Paul words it this way to his son in the faith, “…looki ng for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ” (Titus 2:13). The hope of Christ’s return is not just a hope that we possess–it is to be a blessed hope, or a happy hope. We need to be ones who “love His appearing” (2 Tim. 4:8).
When you consider the hope you have of Jesus’ return, is it a happy hope filled with love?
