A soft…moist…fresh…chewy…chocolate chip cookie. Mmmmm! Mmmmm! Mmm! Now, just give it a slight hint of warmth… Mmmmm!
What if someone could get celery (so healthy; so good for you; so rich in nutrients, vitamins and minerals; so low in calories) to taste like a fresh-out-of-the oven chocolate chip cookie? Wouldn’t that be an incredible invention — taking that which is good for you and masking it with something that is not good for you; or deceiving you with something that is not good for you?
That almost sounds like the devil, doesn’t it? The one who “transforms himself into an angel of light” (2 Cor. 11:14); the one who makes death look like life, wrong look right, bad look good, error look true, dirty look clean, dangerous look safe, unscriptural look Scriptural, etc., etc. The one whose “ministers also transform themselves into ministers of righteousness” (11:15).
Be on the look-out for the evil one’s craftiness (11:3)! His celery is bad for you!
