Let's Go Back to the Bible

He knows what is in each person

When Jesus was on this earth, “He knew what was in man” (John 2:25). He knew their hearts and their thoughts (Matt. 9:4), without them saying a thing to Him. That should not surprise us, as God “looks at the heart” (1 Sam. 16:7), and He “alone know[s] the hearts of all” (1 Kgs. 8:39; Acts 1:24).

Now, we could read those verses and come away with trepidation that God “sees in secret” (Matt. 6:6) and “knows the secrets of the heart” (Psa. 44:21). Or, we could remember that Jesus came to “be made like His brethren,” so that He could “be a merciful and faithful High Priest…to appear in the presence of God for us…to make intercession for” us (Heb. 2:17; 9:24; 7:25). When my heart is heavy, He knows. When my heart is sad, He knows. When my heart is nervous, He knows. When my heart is empty, He knows. When my heart is happy, He knows. When my heart is at peace, He knows.

Rather than be scared that God knows me intimately, let me take great comfort that God knows me intimately.
