Have you ever thought that God expects too much of you and that there’s no way you can do all that He teaches and that you’re not strong enough to keep up with everything He commands? If so, take a moment and imagine being Joshua. Moses is getting ready to die—the Moses who spoke directly with God, led Israel miraculously out of Egypt, received the Ten Commandments on the mountain, patiently endured the Israelites for 40 years in the wilderness, etc., etc. And before Moses dies, imagine God turns to you and says, “Your turn! You’re taking Moses’ place!” What would have gone through your mind? Maybe something like, “God expects too much of me…I’m not strong enough…” And just when you think you’re not strong enough, imagine that God says to you, “Be strong and of good courage” (Deut. 31:6). Me? How?
God gives the answer. Read it slowly. He is saying this to YOU, too! “For the Lord your God, He is the One who goes WITH YOU. He will NOT leave you NOR forsake you” (31:6). When you think you can’t do it and it’s all too much, go back and read these words!
