Sometimes we may wonder if anybody knows or anybody cares what we do for others. Maybe we feel like we’re always the one giving but not very often on the receiving end. Perhaps we are forgetting too much and not remembering enough. The word “forget” is found three times in the book of Hebrews.
First, the author wants Christians to remember that “God is not unjust to forget your work and labor of love” in your ministering to the saints (Heb. 6:10). God does not forget the work that you do for others in “His name.” Whether others remember is really of no consequence.
So, then at the end of the book, the author calls upon these Christians, whom God is not forgetting, to not forget their own responsibilities. “Do not forget to show hospitality” (13:2), and “do not forget to do good and to share, for with such sacrifices God is well pleased” (13:16). Don’t forget that last part! God does not forget what you do for others, so don’t forget to do it!
