School teachers love summer. They get a break from the kids, the stress and the challenges of the school year. Summer allows them to get recharged and ready to make a difference in the lives of a whole new batch of kids. I wonder…give this some thought…are some of us…as Christians…on a “summer break”? Have we stepped away from our “job” as Christians of being a teacher into an indefinite lull?
Fellow Christian, God calls us and expects us to be teachers! Each of us has been given the “gift” of teaching; therefore, we need to be “teaching” (Rom. 12:6-7). We need to be “teaching” what Jesus has “commanded” (Matt. 28:20), “teaching every man in all wisdom, that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus” (Col. 1:28). Failing to teach others of the love, gifts and expectations of Christ can indicate that a Christian himself is yet “a babe,” floundering in his walk with the Lord (Heb. 5:12-14.
God doesn’t have “summer breaks” for Christian teachers! Let’s get recharged today and make a difference today by teaching what we know to those who need it!
