Do you know anyone who “worships God” but is not saved? Think about that for a moment. Do you know anyone who regularly goes to an assembly of worshipers and “worships God” but that person has not obeyed the gospel and is not destined for heaven? Someone might say, “Wait a minute! How can somebody ‘worship God’ every week and not be saved?”
When Paul came to Philippi, he went on the Sabbath Day to find “worshipers of God” he could teach. He found a group of women by a riverside, one of whom was Lydia, “who worshiped God” (Acts 16:14). She was a woman who already believed in God and already met to “worship God,” but she had not heard or obeyed the gospel of Christ (which saves, Rom. 1:16; 6:17-18). Here was a woman “who worshiped God” but she was not saved (16:14-15).
It can be the same today. There can be those who say that they are “worshiping God” but not be saved. Salvation is a gift that only God can give and will only give to those who submit to Him and obey His will. An unsaved worshiper? Yes, it is possible. — DS
