The movie was rated PG-13 but was supposed to be, according to friends, “really good.” The family movie review site shed some light on what to expect, with content specifics on profanity, sex, violence, alcohol and other negative elements. In the section on profanity in this movie, the review included these details: 2 “f” words, nearly 40 “s” words, 15 “a- -,” 6 “h- – -,” 3 S.O.B.’s, 1 “d- – -,” 6 God-d- – -, 4 “Oh God,” 4 “Oh my God,” 3 “Jesus,” 2 “For Christ’s sake,” 1 “Jesus Christ,” at least 3 “n” words (not at a person), at least 8 slang terms for sex and body parts, etc.
Wow! Or maybe better to say, “WOW!” Fellow Christian, we need to think about this. Young person, give this serious consideration. It is not unusual for a Christian to sit through a movie like this and not even notice these words. How is that possible? We have allowed our hearts to be saturated with this so much that it has become “normal.” Jesus said, “But those things which proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and they defile a man” (Matt. 15:18). What are you putting into your heart? The Rating Board should not be our measuring stick!
