A Message from the Elders

Our Vision

God has blessed us in our work at the Palm Beach Lakes congregation to be debt free. Our heart’s desire is to be a blessing to other congregations. To help them thrive and to do more for the Lord.

We are blessed with outstanding and talented preachers at Palm Beach Lakes. Our plan involves sending them to your congregation to conduct select workshops and seminars, which can be beneficial to your efforts. We want to work with you to provide exactly what is needed.

Our desire is to stand beside you and to provide you with the tools for the work of the Lord’s church for evangelism, edification and equipping of the saints. We are here to assist you and will never supplant the local leadership with these events.

The Cost

We are aware of the financial constraints of many congregations. For that reason, there are NO COSTS for Dan or Josh to speak at your congregation or for the materials needed for the event. We will cover all expenses and compensations involved. We only ask that you provide housing for the speaker while he is there.

Flexibility

Each of these modules can be modified to fit your needs—from a weekend effort to as much as a full week. You tell us what works best for you, and we will design the event accordingly. If you have a need that is not mentioned in this information, call us. Let us try to develop an event that will benefit your congregation. We want to be adaptable and helpful.

I. Light the Fire Workshop

Purpose: There are times when the fires of enthusiasm and zeal burn low. We need a concerted effort to kindle anew the zeal for the Lord’s work. As Timothy was reminded to “kindle afresh the gift of God,” so we to need that encouragement (2 Tim. 1:6). This is something that we can do as individuals and as a congregation of the Lord’s body. The heart of this workshop is to “provoke unto love and good works” (Heb. 10:24).

Plan: This is a three-day workshop, which often works well on a Friday night, Saturday and Sunday (although we can be flexible to your calendar).  This can involve one lesson on Friday, one or two lessons on Saturday, and up to three lessons on Sunday (Bible Class, Morning Worship and Evening Worship).  We can discuss the needs of the congregation there and determine the specific schedule and lessons that would be most suitable. Part of the effectiveness of this workshop is getting to know the congregation. Before we arrive, we would like to spend time talking about the congregation with the leadership. Additionally, it would be helpful for us to spend time with various groups of members prior to the workshop. This can include meals, visiting members, or any other times that would be convenient for these conversations. It is simply a time to get a grasp on the history of the congregation, possible needs, and her strengths.

Preparation: This is paramount to the effectiveness of the workshop. We would appreciate that you begin announcing and advertising to the congregation about this event as soon as the dates and times are set. A month out from the date we can mail you some advertising cards that could be given to the congregation with more information advertising the event. If possible, we could write an article for your bulletin that would help explain to the congregation the opportunities associated with this workshop. We would appreciate any help or ideas you have for preparing for this effort. We want this to be as flexible as possible to make it fit the needs of your congregation.

II. Leadership Workshop

Purpose: Leadership is important in any organization but especially in the Lord’s church. He set the parameters for leadership in the local congregation. It is our duty to prepare ourselves, other men, and the congregation to fit that standard. The leadership workshop is designed to cover a range of men: from those not yet qualified to those already serving as elders or deacons. This can include congregations without an eldership or congregations with an established eldership. It will cover information for the congregation about its responsibility to the leadership of the local congregation. We also what to promote a healthy relationship within the leadership of the church. When everyone is pulling in the same direction, there is no limit to what can be done.

Plan: This is a three-day workshop looking into the Bible for precepts and principles of leadership. This workshop often works well on a Friday night, Saturday and Sunday (although we can be flexible to your calendar).  This can involve one lesson on Friday, one or two lessons on Saturday, and up to three lessons on Sunday (Bible Class, Morning Worship and Evening Worship).  We can discuss the needs of the congregation there and determine the specific schedule and lessons that would be most suitable. We would also like to know about the current leadership situation with your congregation. Prior to the event, we will send out a questionnaire that will help us get to know how to best serve your congregation. The information is private and will not be shared.

III. Evangelism Workshop

Purpose: We know the prime directive of the church: “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost” (Mat. 28:19). It might be that we struggle with the mechanics of the “how.” There is a lot of information in the brotherhood about this topic. We would like to take a simplistic approach that covers areas that are important for both the individual and the congregation. This approach works no matter what Bible study system you use. We seek to give you the tools to be prepared and confident in your personal Bible studies and conversations about Bible subjects.

IV. Gospel Meetings

Purpose: “How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?” (Rom. 10:14). The purpose of a gospel meeting is of the utmost importance: proclaiming the message of Christ to the lost world. Not only preaching but preaching in a way that is receptive to those that hear. A gospel meeting should also be done in tandem with an effort to reach out to the community and let them know about this opportunity. This module of the gospel meeting has that idea at its heart.

Plan: This is typically a four-day event, which often works well Sunday through Wednesday (although we can be flexible to your calendar).  This can involve up to three lessons on Sunday (Bible Class, Morning Worship and Evening Worship) and a lesson each night Monday through Wednesday.  We can discuss the needs of the congregation there and determine the specific schedule and lessons that would be most suitable. This would also include a few days of canvasing the neighborhoods around your building. We prefer the door-hanging approach. That is, hanging info on doors. It shows that we took the time but were not intrusive or disruptive to those working from home. Another option are lunch time sessions. These are short sessions to which people can invite their co-workers. While listening to a short Biblical message, the church would provide a free lunch.

Preparation: We would appreciate that you begin announcing and advertising to the congregation about this event as soon as the dates and times are set. There are also some other advertising options.

  • House to House/Heart to Heart mail out to the postal routes around your building.
  • Printing door hangers that match the advertisement that they received from the mail out. These would be hung on doors in neighborhoods around your congregation.
  • Printed materials for your members to hand out to friends, family, and co-workers that advertise the gospel meeting.

We would appreciate any help or ideas you have for preparing for this effort. We want this to be as flexible as possible to make it fit the needs of your congregation and the community.
