Let's Go Back to the Bible

Come and see!

The words are so simple and so non-threatening, allowing the hearer the opportunity to observe and evaluate on his/her own. When two disciples asked Jesus where He was staying, He simply replied, “Come and see” (John 1:37-39). Later, when Jesus asked where Lazarus’ body had been laid after he died, the simple reply was, “Come and see” (John 11:34).

Who among us cannot say those words? When Philip of Bethsaida became a follower of Jesus, he went and found Nathanael and told him about Jesus. When Nathanael responded with a query of skepticism, Philip simply replied, “Come and see” (John 1:43-45). Such a simple and non-threatening appeal, giving Nathanael the opportunity to observe and evaluate for himself.

Do you have questions about the church of Christ? “Come and see.” Are you interested in just going back to the Bible as our only guide? “Come and see.” Are you a member of the church and have friends who you’re trying to reach? How about simply saying, “Come and see”?
