Let's Go Back to the Bible

He sought me and bought me!

What an amazing and thrilling thought that Jesus “sought me and bought me”! E.M. Bartlett’s stirring hymn, “Victory in Jesus,” drives us to marvel. Why does someone seek another? Often it is for some  value that the one sought can provide to or for the one seeking. But, no! Jesus didn’t seek me for any value that I could provide to Him! Just the opposite!

Why does someone buy something? Often it is because that item is needed, perhaps to fill some void in the purchaser’s life. But, no, oh, no! Jesus didn’t buy me because He needed me, and definitely not because I could fill some void that He had! Just the opposite!

So, why is it that Jesus sought me and bought me? There is one simple (yet profoundly deep beyond our comprehension) reason–“He loved me before I ever knew Him!” And, what is my proper response to this amazing and thrilling thought? “All my love is due Him!”
