Let's Go Back to the Bible

If we could change just a little bit…

“Change” is a word that sparks a variety of reactions in the church — it no matter what, some are fearful of it, some are eager for it, some want it just for thesake of “change,” some are reserved and yet willing to evaluate, etc., etc.

The word “church” (from the Greek ekklesia) means “the called out ones” — “a holy nation” whom God has “called…out of darkness into His marvelous light” (1 Pet. 2:9). Each individual Christian within the church is  a “saint” (from the Greek hagios), which means “holy, set apart” — “be holy in all your conduct” (1 Pet. 1:15). Therefore, the Lord’s church and the Lord’s people are to be different! They’re not supposed to look like or act like the world!

When Christians “change” their behavior to be more acceptable and conducive to the world’s standards and when the church “changes” its doctrine and practices to appeal to and not offend the non-Christian’s expectations, they/we are no longer the called out holy ones but have sacrificed Divine favor for worldly favor, the eternal for the temporal. Think about it.
