Well, it might be hard to choose just one verse as “the most important,” but there is no verse that is more important for your home than the one below. If this verse is missing from your home and your marriage (i.e., if the implementation of this verse is missing in your home and your marriage), you will never have a happy home or a “successful” marriage. Believe it or not, YOU are the one who is primarily responsible for bringing this into your home. If it’s not in YOUR home, YOU cannot blame anyone else. Read this slowly and then memorize it.
“Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others” (Phil. 2:3-4).
For the person who says, “I can’t do that,” or for the one who says, “No one else in my family does that,” remember the next verse, “Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus” (2:5). If Jesus could and did have this kind of humility, who am I that I cannot?
