I’m not sure who coined the phrase, “In it to win it,” but it is one of those sayings that I find annoying and nonsensical. I’ve heard American Idol judges say about a contestant, “He’s in it to win it.” Hello! Of course, he is! Why would he be there otherwise? I’ve heard football commentators say, “They’re in it to win it.” Well, duh! That is why they play the game, isn’t it! If someone is “in it,” wouldn’t it be “to win it”?
But, take that phrase and apply it to living the Christian life. Are you “in it to win it”? Naturally, if someone has submitted their will and their life to their Savior and are eagerly endeavoring to serve Him every day, one might say he is “in it to win it.” But, here’s the question upon which I want you to meditate, “Are you in it?” That’s what matters! Are you a Christian? Are you in it? More emphatically, are you a faithful Christian who diligently serves Him every day? That’s how you can know if you are IN IT! The Christian life is a race. Let God take care of the “winning it” part and let us make sure we are actually, truly and diligently “in it.”
