Let's Go Back to the Bible

Have you had an encounter with the Word?

Can you imagine being on the mountain when Jesus “was transfigured” and “His face shone like the sun, and His clothes became as white as the light.  And…Moses and Elijah appeared…talking with Him…and suddenly a voice came out of the cloud” (Matt. 17:1-5)?  What an experience that must have been for Peter, James and John – the only mortals on that mountain with Jesus!  As you would expect, it made quite a lasting impression on them!

Some thirty years later, that day was still alive in the heart of Peter.  “For we did not follow cunningly devised fables when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of His majesty.  For He received from God the Father honor and glory when such a voice came to Him from the Excellent Glory: ‘This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.’  And we heard this voice which came from heaven when we were with Him on the holy mountain” (2 Pet. 1:16-19).  Oh, yes, he remembered!  He then exhorted his readers, “We have the prophetic word confirmed, which you do well to heed” (1:19).
