There are often one or two qualities or facts that stick out and characterize someone in our minds. For example, we might say or think something like this – “Oh, yes, I know him…he’s a huge Gator fan…he’s the one who drives that black Acura…he’s the one who always wears that orange shirt…” “Oh, yes, I know her…she’s always dressed so immaculately…she’s the one who wears way-too-much eye shadow…she’s the one who told Morgan off that one time…”
We all have reputations; sometimes our reputation may not accurate, but most of the time it is. Even while he was in prison, Paul had a reputation among the guards. “It has become evident to the whole palace guard, and to all the rest, that my chains are in Christ” (Phil. 1:13). How did the entire guard at the praetorian and everyone else know that Paul was a Christian? How does anyone know that someone else is a Christian? It’s not by osmosis or direct revelation!
What’s known about you? When others think of you, do they know you’re a Christian?
