Do you ever get text messages that have a string of emojis at the end? All of varying expressions? Do you ever look at each one individually and think about its meaning? I’m guessing that you don’t. I’m guessing you just see a line of emojis as a group and move on, not considering that someone took the time (usually) to intentionally select which laughing one best fit the message, which eye position was just perfect, which mouth shape conveyed the right tone, etc. Of course, when folks get a message from you with a string of emojis that you have carefully selected, they probably do the same thing—just glance right over it without considering each one.
So, here’s the question: Do we do that with the Bible? Do we see part of the message, but we don’t pay attention to the “little details” that God has put in there? Consider this: God doesn’t have “little details.” Every single word was intentionally selected by God (2 Tim. 3:16-17; Matt. 4:4; 22:31-32). What a treasure we have! May we never minimize or overlook any part of it!
