What is the purpose of your life? What is the purpose of the church? We affectionately refer to our congregation as “PBL”—an abbreviation for, “Palm Beach Lakes.” But, truly, “PBL” represents the purpose for all of us.
Our purpose is to “Please God.” Like Jesus (John 8:29), we need to “make it our aim…to be well pleasing to Him” (2 Cor. 5:9) in all that we do, by keeping His commandments (1 John 3:22). Our purpose is to “Bring the Lost to Jesus.” Like Jesus (Luke 19:10), we need to “bear much fruit” (John 15:8) for Christ, by teaching the good news of Jesus to lost souls (Mark 16:15), so that they will come to Him. Our purpose is to “Love the Brethren.” Like Jesus (John 13:34; 15:13), we need to “give preference to one another” (Rom. 12:10) and “serve one another” (Gal. 5:13). Our purpose is to do all of these and focus on them “Forever.” Like Jesus (John 14:3; 17:24), we need to look “to the end” (Heb. 3:6, 14; Rom. 6:22), to the time when we can all be “present with the Lord.”
So, is your purpose to “PBL Forever”?
