A child’s natural reaction when startled, scared, intimidated, overwhelmed or even tired is to run into a parent’s arms and bury his/her head in mom or dad’s chest. How many times have you seen that? A little boy or girl finding comfort, refuge, peace and rest in the safety and security of the one who is always there and has proven to be the truly trusted and reliable safe haven.
Rethink that first paragraph with a greater and spiritual application. A child of God’s natural reaction when startled, scared, intimidated, overwhelmed or even tired SHOULD BE to run into his/her FATHER’S arms and bury his/her head in the Father’s bosom. How often do sons and daughters of the Almighty find comfort, refuge, peace and rest in the safety and security of the ONE who is always there and has proven to be the truly trusted and reliable safe haven?!
Look up the over 20 uses of the word “refuge” in the book of Psalms and be encouraged. Then recite, “I will say of the Lord, ‘He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust’” (Psa. 91:2).
