Let's Go Back to the Bible

When you do what’s right, it feels good!

Good feelings feel so good! Well, that’s pretty obvious, isn’t it? If good feelings didn’t feel so good, we wouldn’t want to experience them. But, just because something makes us feel good does not necessary mean that it’s a good thing to do! Our feelings are not a safe guide in determining what we should or should not do. But, the Bible is!

How often have you experienced good feelings after doing something that the Bible teaches us to do? When you’ve been hospitable (1 Pet. 4:9), it makes you feel good. When you’ve visited a widow (Jas. 1:27), it makes you feel good. When you’ve done good to someone who’s done you wrong (Matt. 5:44; Rom. 12:20-21), it makes you feel good.

The list of that which is “good” and “right” to do, according to the only objective standard (the Bible), could go on and on, as do the “good feelings” that come when we do them! Question: If doing good to others makes us feel good, what’s keeping us from doing it more?
