Let's Go Back to the Bible

What is trumping this political season?

You are passionate about your political candidate. That’s ok. You are so passionate that you share and post all sorts of stuff on social media. You are so passionate that you wear a t-shirt with the candidate’s name, you have multiple bumper stickers, you have a sign in your front yard and you have even made financial contributions to the campaign. That is your choice.

But, let me ask you something. How is your passion affecting your fellow Christians? Is there any chance that your passion has placed a stumbling block in your brother’s path? Scripture states, “It is good neither to eat meat nor drink wine nor do anything by which your brother stumbles or is offended or is made weak” (Rom. 14:21). How is your passion affecting non-Christians? Scripture states that unbelievers should see our “love for one another” (John 13:35) and our “honorable conduct” (1 Pet. 2:12), in order that they might glorify God themselves.

In this political season, there is something that must come first–Christ living through us!
