Let's Go Back to the Bible

Turning a curse into a blessing

If there was ever anyone who was absolutely fixed on cursing the people of God, it was Balaam in Numbers 22-24. In an effort to satisfy his materialistic heart and receive a reward from the king of Moab, Balaam attempted three times to pronounce a curse upon Israel, but every single time Balaam ended up blessing the people  instead. Why? What happened?

“Nevertheless the Lord your God would not listen to Balaam, but the Lord your God turned the curse into a blessing for you, because the Lord your God loves you” (Deut. 23:5).

How often do you think God does that for you? If God turned a potential curse into a blessing for His people more than 3,000 years ago, how often do you think He is taking a curse today and turning it into a blessing for you? There is no way for us to know the answer to that question, but here is something in which we can absolute confidence–“the Lord your God loves you!” Do you believe that? Do you trust Him to know and to do what is best for you?
