Let's Go Back to the Bible

“Spread it before the Lord!”

Sennacherib, king of Assyria, sent a threatening letter to Hezekiah, king of Judah, which basically said, “Don’t believe God! He won’t save you! We are going to destroy you! Look at how we have utterly destroyed everyone else in our path!” (Isa. 37:8-13).

Have you ever been in a situation where you didn’t know what to do or where to turn? Have things ever seemed absolutely hopeless? Have you ever just felt completely overwhelmed?

Hezekiah did what every one of us need to do! Picture this! “Hezekiah went up to the house of the Lord, and spread [the letter] before the Lord. Then Hezekiah prayed to the Lord…” (Isa. 37:14-15). Hezekiah took what he could not handle himself and he laid it out before the Lord and said, “Lord, I need your help!!!” When was the last time you took your burdens, your cares, your heartaches, your troubles and spread them before the Lord? Too many of us are trying to carry them on our own! Remember–“you have not, because you ask not” (Jas. 4:2)!
