Let's Go Back to the Bible

“Every word”?

What does “every word” mean to you? When you pick up your Bible, do you truly recognize (and accept) that “every word” in your Bible is from God (2 Tim. 3:16)? When you read what the Bible says about the church, do you accept “every word” of  it as being from God (and not man) (Gal. 1:12)? When you read what the Bible says about morality, purity and everyday living, do you accept “every word” of it as being the will of God (and not the will of man) (2 Pet. 1:20-21)?

Take a moment and truly meditate on Jesus’ response to Satan in Matthew 4:4. Satan had tempted Jesus to focus on the material, the temporal, the self-gratifying. Jesus responded, “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.” Every word! Every word? Every? Word?

Do we truly live by “every word” of God? Or, do we pick and choose? Do we think some are more relevant than others? Jesus said, “Every word!” Are you? Am I? Are we?
