What comes to mind when you hear about someone having a “love for truth”? Does that sound odd? We know what it means when someone has a love for their spouse, a love for their children, a love for certain sports teams, a love for certain food, etc. But, how can one have that same kind of “love” for truth–an inanimate object?
One has a love for truth when he wants to hear it, he longs to learn it, he is zealous to obey it, he is eager to share it, he is quick to defend it, he accepts it fully for what it says, he is not ashamed of what it teaches, he is not embarrassed by what it requires of him, he trusts the Source to mean what He says and say what He means.
Do you love the truth of God? Do you love the truth of the cross? Do you love the truth regarding the church? Do you love the truth regarding personal holiness? Do you love the truth regarding Christian living? Do you love the truth more than you love any earthly thing?
