There were not many “devo songs” when I was a teenager, so we usually sang the same ones at every devotional. One we always sang was, “Who’s that walkin’ down the road, carryin’ such a heavy load?” When you’re a kid, you sometimes don’t focus enough on the words (especially when you sing the same song repeatedly), but what a wonderful message this song has!
There are burdens that we are carryin’ that we don’t need to carry! Why is that? How is that? Because as a Christian, I’m “walkin’ on heaven’s road,” where I’m “gonna lay down my heavy load.” The best part is that “Jesus said He’d walk along with me. Praise God! Glory, Hallelujah!” No doubt, “I’m singing’ all the way,” because I’ve “got sunshine in ev’ry day!”
Here is His promise: “Cast your burden on the Lord, and He shall sustain you” (Psa. 55:22)! Have you done that? Are you walkin’ on heaven’s road? Then, lay your burden on Him! He will not allow you to be shaken! He shall sustain you! Now that’s pure sunshine!
