Let's Go Back to the Bible

Extending an invitation

We often use some accommodative terms in the church to describe certain things that we do. One example of that is when we “extend the invitation.” Members of the church know what that means. That is time in each service (and multiple times each week) when individuals are given an opportunity to respond to the gospel of Christ and make their lives right with the Lord.

But, did you know that “extending the invitation” is not merely a “church service” activity? And, did you know that every Christian has the responsibility to “extend the invitation”?

Your temperament “extends the invitation of Jesus” every day! Your example and daily influence “extend the invitation of Jesus” every day! But, that’s not enough! God expects you to “extend the invitation of Jesus” with your words: “Can I ask what you know about Jesus? Would you read this article and let me know what you think? Can I share some Bible verses with you? Would you like to have a Bible study together? Would you come to church with me?”
