Let's Go Back to the Bible

Be a following leader

Are you a following leader? That’s not the same as a leading follower. Of course, you may look at both concepts as oxymorons (like jumbo shrimp, pretty ugly, virtual reality, definite maybe, etc.). But, being a following leader does not have to be a contradiction.

First of all, as a Christian, you are a follower. You are a follower of Christ (Mark 8:34; 1 Pet. 2:21). You are a follower of the words of the Bible (Jas. 1:25). You are a follower of the apostles’ examples (1 Cor. 11:1). You are a follower of faithful leaders (Heb. 13:7). However, you should not be a blind follower (Matt. 15:14) or a follower of evil (3 John 11; 1 Tim. 5:15).

Second of all, as a Christian, you are a leader. You are a leader of people to God (Matt. 5:16). You are a leader of people to the truth (2 Tim. 2:25). You are a leader of people to good works (Tit. 2:7). You are a leader of people to godly living (1 Tim. 4:12).

Now, as a Christian, you are to be a following leader! How’s it going?
