Let's Go Back to the Bible

Agape love is never rude

In this day and age, it is so easy to be rude (and not think anything it). That seems to be the default demeanor and routine reaction of so many folks. Brother and sister in Christ, we cannot afford to fall into that pattern of behavior.

In “The Love Chapter” of First Corinthians 13, Paul states that “love… does not behave rudely” (13:4-5). It is not “rude” (ESV). Too often we might react with a “yeah, but.” “Yeah, but you don’t know what he said…what she did…how she looked at me…” It doesn’t matter!

Christians are to “love (agape)” one another (John 13:34). Don’t be rude to fellow Christians! Christians are to “love (agape)” their enemies (Matt. 5:44). Don’t be rude to your enemies! Christians are to “love (agape)” all people (1 Thess. 3:12). Don’t be rude to anyone! Husbands and wives are to “love (agape)” their spouse (Eph. 5:22-33). Don’t be rude to your mate! There is no place, in the life of one is following Jesus, for being rude! Let’s work on this!
