There is a lot happening in our nation right now. There is a divide among us that is full of hate. There are cultural pressures that we may not even realize. We have been influenced to think, respond and behave in certain ways. As a Christian, I must learn to always be MORE “mindful of the things of God” than “the things of men” (Matt. 16:23).
When someone is killed, I need to think about the eternal soul of the deceased AND of the killer. When someone is being insulted, I need to think about the desperate need of the gospel in the life of the insulted AND the insulter. When the tides of what is accepted as right and wrong are constantly shifting, I need to stand firm on the unchanging truth of God’s Word. When I feel inclined to lean in one political direction or the other, I need to realize that I am to be a God-honoring, Christ-loving, church-serving, righteousness-living person FIRST…AND…FOREMOST…EVERY DAY! Everything about my Father must be more important to me than everything about this world (1 John 2:15-17)!
