Let's Go Back to the Bible

The Bible stories were written for you!

Why did God put the stories of Noah, Abraham, Joseph, Joshua and David in the Bible? We might think that they are there to honor and indelibly publicize those Bible heroes for what they did. That could be, but it’s not the prime reason. We might think that they were there for children to have bedtime stories. That could be, but it’s not the prime reason.

In Romans 4, the inspired penmen reflected on the life, faith and obedience of the great patriarch Abraham. At the end of that record, the apostle Paul stated, “And therefore ‘it was accounted to him for righteousness.’ Now it was not written for his [Abraham’s] sake alone that it was imputed to him, but also for us” (4:22-24). That which was written about Abraham was written “for us”! It is there for our “learning” (Rom. 15:4) and our “admonition” (1 Cor. 10:11)!

The Bible stories are there for you! God had His penman record them for you! Are you reading them? Studying them? Loving them?
