Let's Go Back to the Bible

Sin shouldn’t be entertaining

Viewers of television sitcoms, dramas and reality shows are inundated with all sorts of immorality that is made to appear ordinary, acceptable and even entertaining. There are few things more prevalent on television today than individuals who are not married to each other engaging in sexual activity (whether explicitly depicted or merely implied). What children of God must remember is that people having sex before (or outside of) marriage is not entertaining or funny or cute or something for which we should cheer.

There are all sorts of problems that we should see in this, none the least of which is that such easily becomes normalized in our hearts to the point that we accept it, want it and even engage in it ourselves. God created sex and He placed it in only one acceptable place – between a man and his wife only when they are married to each other. It doesn’t get any simpler than Hebrews 13:4, “Marriage is to be held in honor among all, and the marriage bed is to be undefiled; for fornicators and adulterers God will judge.” May God help us to control what entertains us!
