Let's Go Back to the Bible

Jesus Loves the Little Children!

Clarence H. Woolston penned the simple lyrics 99 years ago, but they remain ever-true and are especially meaningful and heart-tugging under certain circumstances. Meditate on them in a fresh way today: “Jesus loves the little children, All the children of the world. Red and yellow, black and white, All are precious in His sight. Jesus loves the little children of the world.”

The words that we sing are actually the refrain of a three-verse hymn that Woolston authored. Think about this first verse: “Jesus calls the children dear, ‘Come to me and never fear, For I love the little children of the world; I will take you by the hand, Lead you to the better land…'”

If we could measure our love for the little children and the aching, breaking and crushing of our hearts when little children are harmed and even killed…can you even begin to imagine the measure of Jesus’ love for the little children and the aching, breaking and crushing of His heart when they are harmed or even killed? The best and only salve for that pain is the thought of Jesus saying to that dying child, “I will take you by the hand, lead you to the better land.”
